2016 was a remarkable year for NAVES and brought great news, starting with the reinforcement of its team. To the Board of Directors, composed of José Ramalho Fontes and Manuel Dias Ferreira, was appointed Miguel Alpendre (I MBA), who has previous experience in the venture capital fund management (ISQ) sector, and the Advisor Team could count with the support of Afonso Barbosa. In November, Maria Calderón joined the Executive Direction, composed of Rita Sousa (Executive Director, III MBA) and Mário Reis (Financial Analyst), to streamline the communication area.

Although the focus of NAVES is the management of its portfolio, currently composed of 8 active companies, a new step forward was taken by the company and its first Venture Capital Fund was launched and approved by the CMVM in November. The “Green and Blue Growth” fund aims to invest as early as 2017 in the agro-industry, agriculture, forestry and sea sectors, currently in rapid growth in Portugal.

NAVES has therefore been developing partnerships with key players in the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Portugal, and has also been invited to join judges panels at several major pitch events throughout the year: HandsOn.TV Start-up Tour Europe, Road 2 WebSummit, NOS Innovation, amongst others.
